About your adventure.

Our camaraderie with the Sherpa people is felt in every aspect of the trip and is something trekkers experience firsthand.

These connections not only impact on trekkers at the time, and allow for a unique experience where they’re welcomed in like family, but they are moments that stay with them for a lifetime – influencing how they feel about the world.

Our first Youth to Everest trip in 1988 was led by Everest Treks founder John Gully. This group was part of a support trek during the Everest expedition that included fellow New Zealanders Lydia Bradey, Rob hall and Gary Ball. Since then, it’s evolved to become the trip it is today – a unique and life changing two week adventure. YTE begins in Kathmandu, with a flight into Lukla taking trekkers to the base of their trek. A slow and steady walk through quaint Sherpa villages and incomparable mountain ranges fills two weeks where they volunteer with our projects, immerse themselves with Sherpa culture, visit local schools and get a real taste of life in the Khumbu Valley. Trekkers return home with a wider perspective, a greater sense of empathy and memories to last a lifetime.
